Welcome to
LuGenD, Lung Cancer Gene Database. Lung Cancer is the second most common
cancer among both men and women and the leading cause of cancer death in both
sexes. LuGenD
is a
curated and integrated web-based database for genes and genomic loci of human
Lung cancer genes.
To
identify Lung cancer causing gene becomes more and more important today. If
genes had been identified early, molecular biologist would have had sufficient
time to detect and treat them. Currently, there is just a few specialized public
databases are available storing the data of gene and its expression while they
are needed as a resource for the field. Moreover, there is a need to develop and
assess computational tools to compare and analyze in a suitable way for
biological interpretation. Here we describe our recent work on developing a
database on Lung cancer gene, and setting up for the analyzing a large-scale
cancer registry for lung cancer, that would contribute to basic and
clinical research in the future. Molecular biologist need sophisticated
analytical tools or database which often demand extensive computational
resources. This database LuGenD covers genes involved in a number of
molecular and genetic events of the Lung cancer including the chromosomal
location, mutations and expression, as published in the literature.
There are a total of 75 unique
entries in this database. Users can either browse or query the gene through a
web interface. For each gene, in addition to basic gene information and rich
cross-references to other databases such as SWISSPROT, EntrezGene, EMBL etc.,
and relevant literature references are provided to support the inclusion of the
gene in the database. The detail expression of each gene data are also presented
using UniGene Cluster database.
