Summary:
Sequence pane - window coordinates
|
Original submission:
Currently, the bar on the bottom of the sequence pane shows the coordinates of the current selection. It would also be useful to have the coordinates of the left and rightmost nucleotides or amino acids, as was done in GDE. That way, you can use the coordinates of the window to guide your selection.

There are two possibilities with how to implement this:
1. This can be implemented by using the length of the current line as the maximum value for the X-axis. This has the advantage of whenever the user moves the current to a line, he or she can immediately know the sequence length.
2. This can be also be implemented by using the maximum length of all of the sequences in the canvas. This implementation has the advantage of not confusing the user when a selection spans two sequences of unequal length.
Both solutions are easy to implement.
