Summary:
BACHREST - MINSITE and MAXSITE have no effect
|
Original submission:
BACHREST appears to correctly read MINSITE and MAXSITE, as evidenced by the correct values seen in program output. However, these parameters appear to have no effect in selecting only those enzymes whose cutting sites are in the specified size range.

This turned out to be due to an unterminated comment line in the main procedure. This line was just above the two lines that compare the length of a site with MINSITE and MAXSITE.
Since this program is compiled by first translating from Pascal to C using p2c. So apparently when p2c encounters an unterminated comment, it just keeps going until it sees a terminator for the next comment.
As of Sept. 30, 2012, BACHREST has been recompiled for both Solaris platforms, fo r linux-x86_64 and for osx-x86_64. It still needs to be recompiled for linux-intel and winxp-32.
