As both command line program and C++ library, celutil makes available to end user, automated scripts, CGI scripts and other programs the capabilities to read, convert, compress, compare and query raw files (*.CEL) in both XDA (GCOS compatible) and ASCII (MAS 5 compatible) format.

The program has been developed and tested on GNU/Linux and Solaris, and should be usable on any UNIX, Mac OSX and DOS operating system platforms.

• Conversion between CEL file formats: ASCII (version) and XDA (version 4), with automatic detection of format and compression.
• Comparison between two CEL files in any format, compare their intensity matrices
• Query a CEL file for its components: intensities section header entries such as version, cols, rows, DatHeader, etc.
• Compression : CEL files in input and output can be compressed transparently using the zlib library.
