In the past few years, an increasing number of sequencing projects have generated copious amounts of scleractinian (reef-building coral) sequences. These data are now publicly available for use in laboratory and in situ experiments. However, recent studies on the coral transcriptome have been challenging for coral biologists and ecologists with very little or no background in transcriptomics and bioinformatics.

Our aims are:

  1. to provide coral researchers with validated annotations for coral sequences
  2. to create a common place for finding, depositing and discussing data about coral gene expression
  3. to assist the coral research community to fill up the gaps in our knowledge about coral molecular biology
  4. to help future studies to investigate novel genes and find out about the interests of other groups
