    Opportunity: BIOINFORMATIC Staff Scientist (AC-TAP) @ BRIC -- Copenhagen, DK

    SUMMARY

    A full-time position as bioinformatician in our bioinformatics core-facility is available at the Biotech Research and Innovation Centre (BRIC), University of Copenhagen. The position is available for 3 years with the possibility of extension.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The staff scientist will be part of the bioinformatics core-facility at BRIC, and will in close collaboration with scientists at BRIC be involved in a number of research projects in which next generation DNA sequencing is used. This technology is producing enormous amounts of data, and the candidate will be responsible for administration and analysis of these data together with other staff scientists in the core-facility. This will involve the generation of bioinformatics "pipelines", use and development of sophisticated programs, and strong interactions with scientists at BRIC.

    REQUIREMENTS

    We are looking for highly motivated candidates with a PhD in bioinformatics or equal qualifications. The ideal candidate is expected to have knowledge and experience of UNIX / LINUX on an advanced level, experience in programming in one or more modern programming languages (e.g. Perl, Python, C++ etc.) and the software R, experience with bioinformatics analysis of high-throughput data (such as next-generation sequencing data) and large data sets in general. Moreover, we expect that the candidate has good English skills, is highly engaged and likes to interact and work with other people. System administration experience is preferable but not required.

    LOCALE

    Place of employment and work:
    The employment is at BRIC, University of Copenhagen, and the position will be available from March 1st, 2013.

    COMPENSATION

    Terms of salary and employment:
    Salary, pension and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Academics Central organization. Depending on qualifications, a higher salary may be negotiated.
