    Opportunity: Postdoctoral Fellow in COMPUTATIONAL GENOMICS @ The Johns Hopkins University -- Baltimore, MD (US)

    BACKGROUND

    A postdoctoral position is available at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. This postdoctoral fellow will join Dr. Ji's research group in the Department of Biostatistics and the Johns Hopkins Center for Computational Biology (CCB) to conduct methodological and collaborative research on functional genomics. The research interest of Dr. Ji's group and information on CCB can be found at http://www.biostat.jhsph.edu/~hji/ and http://genomics.jhu.edu. Both the Department of Biostatistics and the Center for Computational Biology provide a highly dynamic and supportive environment for junior investigators to grow and develop their future career.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Main responsibilities include
    • Developing novel statistical and computational methods and software tools for analyzing next-generation sequencing and high-throughput functional genomic data, including ChIP-seq, DNase-seq, RNA-seq and massive amounts of gene expression data in Gene Expression Omnibus
    • Participating in collaborative research and apply the methods to study stem cell differentiation and/or gene regulation in human cancers

    REQUIREMENTS

    The ideal applicant should have
    • A PhD degree in computer science, statistics, biostatistics, bioinformatics, computational biology, biomedical engineering, applied mathematics or other related fields with strong quantitative training
    • Strong programming skills both in C/C++ (or other similar languages such as Python, etc.) and in a statistical language (R or MATLAB) are required. Knowledge on building databases and web applications is a plus.
    • A publication record in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics or related fields
    • Creativity, enthusiasm, and good communication skills

    COMPENSATION

    Salary is competitive and will depend on experience and qualifications.
