    DESCRIPTION

    Program Description:
    The Cancer Genomics Research Laboratory (CGR) in Gaithersburg, MD, is a fast-paced, high-throughput genotyping and sequencing facility dedicated to the support of genetic and epidemiologic studies for investigators at the National Cancer Institute.

    Job Description:
    The Biostatistician II will join the Bioinformatics Team at the CGR and will participate primarily in the Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) including SNP microarray intensity processing, genotype calling, genotype quality control and SNP association analyses. In addition, the Biostatistician II will be expected to develop tools and operate software pipelines to manage GWAS analysis tasks and deliverables to meet project's needs, and to perform these assignments independently with input and guidance from the supervisor. Progress on assignments will be reported on a regular basis. The Biostatistician II may be responsible for presenting data at meetings, conferences, or other venues.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Basic Qualifications:
    • Possession of a Masters degree in biomedical science/bioinformatics/math/computer related field from an accredited college or university or six (6) years related experience in lieu of degree.
    • Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. Equivalency.
    • In addition to the education requirements, a minimum of two (2) years of related experience is required.
    • Experience managing complex programs or large production units are required.
    • Must have extensive experience in biostatistics and/or human genetics.
    • Must be able to perform analysis of genomic data relevant to high-throughput array genotyping or next generation sequencing.
    • Experience in writing manuscripts and dissemination of data.
    • This position is subject to obtaining a Public Trust Clearance.

    PREFERENCES

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience in the field of molecular and population genetics.
