Patil group in the Structural and Computational Biology Unit at EMBL - Heidelberg is interested in applications for a post-doctoral position within the field of bioinformatics / systems biology. The Patil group uses a combination of modelling, bioinformatics, and experimental approaches to study metabolic networks and how they are controlled.

CHO cells are among the most important cell lines used for producing biopharmaceuticals. This project aims at integrating genomics and transcriptomics datasets from various CHO cell lines to build genome-scale models for use in computer-aided design of CHO cell factories. The project will also involve development of bioinformatics resources and databases for the international CHO cell community. The project will be carried out in close collaboration with the group of Nicole Borth from the Austrian Centre for Industrial Biotechnology. The project provides a unique opportunity for candidates who wish to apply their bioinformatics skills to biological problems of industrial importance.
