    Good Start Genetics, Inc. is seeking a Scientist to acquire high quality genetics data from our clinical operations, analyze the data, and translate the results into 1) improved product quality, 2) processes, and 3) publications.

    The right candidate will serve as key driver of developing and improving processes related to variant evaluation and classification while working as part of cross-functional teams composed of bioinformatics, genomics, and molecular diagnostics experts.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Technical capability expected:
    • Education (PhD) and experience in a quantitative field (for example, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or Statistics, or a related discipline), or commensurate experience with a proven ability to function in a role with independent responsibility.
    • Experience in Population Genetics or Statistics within a biotech/pharma/diagnostic environment (i.e. non-academic environment).
    • Excellent working knowledge of popular bioinformatics tools, both commercial offerings and open source research tools; such as: UCSC Genome Browser, PolyPhen, Samtools, VCF, Genome Analysis Toolkit, ANNOVAR, Integrated Genome Viewer.
    • Experience and comfort applying statistical techniques to high-throughput data sets is strongly desired.
    • Experience in analyzing next-generation DNA sequencing data, a plus.
    • Desire to work as part of a small, inter-disciplinary, and collaborative team in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of ambiguity.
    • Solid communications skills -- both written and oral -- adapted appropriately for the audience.
