DESCRIPTION
The Center for Infection and Immunity (CII) - the world's most advanced academic center for research in infectious disease surveillance, diagnosis and discovery is seeking an experienced individual to be responsible for maintaining, updating and expanding the high-performance computer cluster that supports the Center's research. The candidate must be proficient with various Linux distributions such as CentOS, Debian and Ubuntu and Rocks cluster setup. S/he must have working knowledge of IPMI's, network-based security, network storage, installation/updates, file system management, backup/recovery, IT security concepts, cluster computing, and shell scripting. Candidate will be responsible for ongoing performance tuning, hardware/software upgrades, and resource optimization as required. The successful candidate must work independently and efficiently in a team setting and have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Server maintenance (software) – 25%
- Server maintenance (hardware) – 25%
- I.T. and network security – 25%
- Back-up and recovery – 20%
- Other duties as assigned – 5%
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and at least two years of related experience with applicable systems.
- The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a full background check prior to a final offer of employment being made.
- Experience with SGE and parallel environments. The candidate should be physically available and located in the New York City area.
