Opportunity: Senior/Principal Scientist (Bioinformatics) @ Takeda Cambridge -- Cambridge, UK

BACKGROUND
Takeda Cambridge (UK) is a drug discovery company specialising in identifying and validating innovative drug targets. Worldwide, Takeda develops, manufactures and markets a broad range of pharmaceutical products and strives towards better health for patients worldwide through leading innovation in medicine.
We are currently seeking to recruit an experienced Bioinformatician based in our Cambridge, UK facility.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Robust analysis of data with minimal supervision leading to testable hypotheses for target candidates, biomarkers, disease mechanisms or mechanisms of drug action.
- Awareness of the current biology/bioinformatics literature and large public datasets.
- Utilising detailed technical knowledge to design routes and solve problems within the project environment.
PREFERENCES
- The ideal candidate is likely to have a PhD in machine learning or a closely related field, experience of working in bioinformatics and a strong record of creativity. You will possess excellent technical skills and have a strong mathematics/statistics/machine learning background.
- Experience of the application of methods such as multivariate and Bayesian analysis and machine learning methods to solve real world problems, preferably in a biomedical context, is required.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential as you will be working closely with our scientists in support of our research projects.
