Opportunity: Assistant Professor in Bioinformatics @ La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology -- San Diego, CA (US)
Submitted by Diana Mason; posted on Friday, August 22, 2014
DESCRIPTION
The La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology (LJI, San Diego, California) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor to strengthen our research program in bioinformatics as applied to immunology and related disciplines. Applicants must have an outstanding record of scientific ability demonstrated by a strong publication record and/or other research products such as software packages or information resources. Demonstrated expertise to work collaboratively with experimental scientists is a requirement, as are research directions that allow for interlinking with existing programs at LJI, in particular in the area of high throughput sequencing applications for the analysis of immune system function, immune disorders and cell differentiation in diverse mammalian systems.
ABOUT US
LJI is an independent not-for-profit research institute located on UCSD campus. The institute offers a superb and broadly based research environment ranging from molecular genetics and structural biology to cellular immunology, developmental biology, studies in animal models and human clinical trials. Many faculty members hold adjunct appointments at UCSD, and tight interactions and collaborations are in place with neighboring institutions such as the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC), the Salk, Scripps, Sanford Burnham and J Craig Venter Institutes, as well as many local pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies including Illumina.
LJI was rated best place to work in a 2013 survey of postdocs by The Scientist magazine, and ranks in the top 5 institutes world wide for citation impact in immunology based on ISI.
HOW TO APPLY
Applicants should electronically submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, scientific achievements, and a detailed research plan to: careers[at]liai.org. Three letters of reference should be sent from referees directly to careers[at]liai.org.
DEADLINE
Review of applications will begin October 1, 2014 and will continue until the position is filled.
