Opportunity: Web Applications Developer @ La Jolla Institute for Allergy & Immunology -- San Diego, CA (US)

BACKGROUND
There is an immediate opening for a Web Developer on the Immune Epitope Database Analysis Resource (IEDB-AR, http://tools.iedb.org) team at the La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology (LJI, http://lji.org). The candidate will work as part of a small team of developers to continue migration of the web applications from Java/Tomcat to Python/Django. These web applications are used by researchers worldwide free of charge to help understand and fight infectious and allergic diseases. The successful candidate will have significant experience in development workflows and will help to shore up current development/building/testing/deploying procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Migrating several apps from Java/Tomcat to Python/Django
- Implementing interfaces to new tools as they become available
- Squashing bugs as they are uncovered
REQUIREMENTS
- Python, Django, and Javascript expert
- REST web services
- Java
- RDBMS and SQL
- Version control systems
- Coding best practices (documentation, unit testing, etc.)
PREFERENCES
- Server administration (MySQL, Apache, Tomcat, etc.)
- NoSQL databases
- Knowledge of biology/immunology
