RESPONSIBILITIES
General Summary:
Provide bioinformatics and genomic research consultation to research scientists in the collection, management, interpretation, and analysis on biological data, with a focus on, but not limited to, high-throughput technologies with strong emphasis on next-generation sequencing. The main responsibility of this position is on the design of NGS experiments and the application of state-of-art bioinformatics technology to analyze and integrate large scale --omic datasets in collaborative setting. Require familiarity with existing genomic databases such as, but not limited to, TCGA, ENCODE, and CCLE. Proficiency in programming using either R/Perl/Python/Java/C++ is a must. Familiarity with biostatistics, quantitative analysis, Exome/RNASeq analysis, and NGS laboratory procedures are preferred, but not required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as are the abilities to work both independently and collaboratively and to meet deadlines. Require a BS, MS, or PhD in bioinformatics/computational biology, computer science, biostatistics, life sciences, or with related experiences.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Bioinformatics Analyst within the Center for Cancer Computational Biology will:
1. Meet with research scientists to provide bioinformatics consultation in the analysis of experimental data
2. Communicate with research scientists to understand and obtain data analysis specifications
3. Design data analysis project plans and estimate time to completion
4. Work independently and as a team member to analyze data, developing software tools and analytical pipelines where necessary
5. Provide publication quality documentations at the end of each data analysis project
6. Provide training in bioinformatics and data analysis topics
7. Evaluation, development, and support of new bioinformatics methods
8. Work collaboratively with or mentor other staff to develop the resources in the Center for Cancer Computational Biology
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors degree required, MS preferred or PhD in bioinformatics, computer science and/or the life sciences and 3-5 years relevant experience. Performs primary duties as above and has progressed to performing more advanced skill sets as directed. Requires general supervision with latitude for independent judgment.

Full/Part Time: Full-Time
Regular/Temporary: Regular
Schedule: This position is a regular, exempt, 40 hour per week, M-F. Exact schedule is flexible.
