    Opportunity: Linux System Administrator (HPC / Storage) (#5641) @ SRA International -- Atlanta, GA (US)

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    SRA is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to support configuration and operations of the Scientific Computing storage systems at CDC. The incumbent will perform optimization of operations and resource utilization and perform system capacity analysis and planning as necessary. You will work as a technical team leader to implement solutions to current problems and future deficiencies in our HPC environment in conjunction with other junior and senior administrators as well as technical members of other teams and CDC stakeholders.

    REQUIREMENTS

    The ideal candidate will be a self starter capable of working independently or as part of an interdisciplinary team. You must be comfortable working in a dynamic, fast paced environment and able to efficiently switch tasks. Good people skills are critical for interactions with your team mates as well as with customers. Ideally, the candidate has experience working in a research computing environment and has a solid understanding of bioinformatics methodologies and workflows.

    Required Skills/experience:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or comparable field; and 5+ years' experience in RedHat or CentOS (v6 or greater); or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • In depth knowledge of Linux systems, Linux storage platforms, and storage management tools
    • Experience installing, configuring and maintaining scale out NAS systems
    • Experience in NFS and CIFS share management in Linux environments
    • Hands on experience of managing at least 100TB high-performance storage systems
    • Working knowledge of networking configuration in support of HPC storage systems and integration with associated compute cluster and virtualization environments (Ethernet, Infiniband and Fibre channel)
    • Familiarity with contemporary scripting languages such as Perl, Bash or Python.
    • Minimum of 3 years' experience managing two or more of the following systems or services:
      • HPC relevant hardware and software systems, network and storage architectures (EMC, Hitachi, Netapp, DDN) and technologies
      • Experience in Isilon storage environment working with OneFS 6.x or 7.x
      • Managing TCP/IP networking, basic routing, and network services
      • Managing backup for high-performance filesystems

    PREFERENCES

    Preferred Skills/experience:
    • Masters Degree or greater in Computer Science or comparable field
    • Experience with Isilon scale out NAS systems administration and management
    • Hands on experience of at least 1PB total high-performance storage administration
    • Experience with block storage, Hitachi, EMC, Netapp
    • Experience with object storage, including on premises and cloud (e.g. AWS, SwiftStack)
    • Experience with high performance data transfer protocols such as Globis or GridFTP.
    • Experience with storage accelerator and virtualization technologies such as Avere
    • Familiarity with parallel file systems such as Lustre, GPFS, or Ceph
    • Familiarity with Hadoop
    • Experience with HPC computing environments
    • Experience working within a bioinformatics or scientific computing environment
    • Experience providing storage solutions for NGS and other complex life science data types
    • RedHat Certifications
    • Isilon Certifications
