    Opportunity: Bioinformatics Postdoc @ West Virginia University -- Morgantown, WV (US)

    BACKGROUND

    A 2-year postdoctoral position is available immediately to conduct bioinformatic analyses. The incumbent will participate in two projects: 1) an NSF-funded project to study sex chromosome evolution in trees in the Salicaceae family, as well as 2) a DOE-funded project to study the population genomics of adaptive traits in Populus trees.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The project will involve design and analysis of sequence capture assays for sex chromosome identification, and quantitative and population genetic analyses of whole genome resequencing data.

    REQUIREMENTS

    A PhD in bioinformatics, computer science, genetics or other relevant topic; a strong background in statistics; proficiency in the Linux environment and one or more scripting languages; experience with the analysis of large biological data sets.

    LOCALE

    This position is based in the lab of Dr. Stephen DiFazio in the Department of Biology at West Virginia University's main campus in Morgantown (http://biology.wvu.edu/jobs/about_morgantown). The post-doc will be part of a collaborative team of geneticists and bioinformaticists at WVU and other institutions.

    COMPENSATION
