Opportunity: Postdoctoral Fellows in Computational Biology @ The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine -- Farmington, CT (US)

BACKGROUND
Ucar Lab (https://www.jax.org/research-and-faculty/research-labs/the-ucar-lab) at the Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine is seeking highly motivated computational scientists for genomic data analyses. The Ucar Lab is a computational biology lab specializing in developing data integration and mining algorithms to study the mechanisms of transcriptional gene regulation and its dynamics in human diseases, including immune-related and metabolic disorders.
REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will:
- Possess a Ph.D. in computer science, statistics, biostatistics, genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, physics, electrical engineering,
- Have a proven track record and/or enthusiasm for conducting research in genomics, systems biology
- Be eager to learn new methods and science
- Be able to learn and work independently, yet collaborate effectively with colleagues
- Be familiar with Data Mining/ Machine Learning techniques
- Have experience in developing and applying statistical packages in R and/or Matlab. Preferentially experience in a scripting language (Perl/Python).
- Have programming experience in Unix
ABOUT US
Fellows will be joining the Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine in Connecticut, which is a highly collaborative and new institute dedicated to employ genomics to improve human health. The Jackson Laboratory (https://www.jax.org) established in 1929 in Bar Harbor, ME, is a non-profit independent research institution with a proud history of innovative biomedical research. The laboratory is driving progress in the new era of genomic medicine with the development of its new institute, Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine, as part of a $1.1 billion new venture. The new institute is based in Farmington, CT in the Hartford metropolitan area and provides a unique environment for inter-disciplinary and multi-cultural interactions. Hartford is a lively metropolitan area and is within a two-hour drive to both Boston and New York City. The successful candidates are required to live and work in Connecticut with potential visits and training opportunities at the Bar Harbor, Maine campus.
