Opportunity: Postdoctoral Fellow @ European Molecular Biology Laboratory -- Grenoble, France
Submitted by EMBL Recruitment; posted on Monday, November 16, 2015
BACKGROUND
The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the highest ranked scientific research organisations in the world. The Headquarters Laboratory is located in Heidelberg (Germany), with additional sites in Grenoble (France), Hamburg (Germany), Hinxton (UK) and Monterotondo (Italy).
A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the group of Marco Marcia at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Grenoble, France. Research in the Marcia group aims to characterize the structure and function of chromatin remodeling enzymes, their interactions with long non-coding RNAs, and their molecular mechanism during transcription regulation(https://embl.fr/research/unit/marcia). EMBL is one of the highest-ranked international research organizations and promotes cutting-edge scientific research in a collaborative atmosphere. At EMBL Grenoble, the candidate will have on-site access to state-of-the-art biochemical, biophysical and molecular and cell biology equipment. The candidate will also have access to research infrastructure located at all other EMBL sites (Heidelberg, Hinxton, Monterotondo, and Hamburg; (http://intranet.embl.de/scientific_services/index.html).
Additional information regarding the laboratory and the projects in question can be obtained by contacting Marco Marcia (marco.marcia(at)embl.fr).

We are seeking to recruit a candidate with an outstanding scientific track record, proven by publications in highly-ranked peer-reviewed international journals. The candidate should have strong interest in deciphering molecular mechanisms that regulate important biological phenomena. The successful applicant should hold a Ph.D. degree in biochemistry, molecular or cell biology by the start date. Experience in working with cell cultures, fluorescence microscopy, genome editing by CRISPR/Cas9, and/or familiarity with next-generation sequencing (NGS) data are an advantage. We welcome applications from candidates interested in working at the interface between the wet lab and bioinformatics. Motivation to work in a multidisciplinary and international environment and fluency in English are essential.
HOW TO APPLY
Please apply online through http://www.embl.org/jobs including a cover letter, a 2-page research statement, and at least two reference letters. Deadline for application is December 13th, 2015. The position is available immediately. The latest acceptable start date is March 1st, 2016.
