Opportunity: Post-doc fellowship @ Weill Cornell Medicine -- New York, NY (US)
Submitted by Doron Betel; posted on Wednesday, December 09, 2015

    BACKGROUND

A postdoctoral position in computational biology is available in the Betel lab at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City - http://icb.med.cornell.edu/faculty/betel/lab/labsite/.

Our group is engaged in a number of collaborative projects with clinicians and experimentalists from several institutes in areas of cancer genomics, neurobiology and stem cells.

These projects include studying how changes in host microbiome influence the immune response and its contribution to tumorigenesis; the role of microRNAs during development and in cancer; and investigating the genetic and epigenetic changes in cellular aging using stem cell models. Postdocs in the group will have the opportunity to take a leadership role in one or more of these projects, initiate new projects and foster new collaborations. The position entails development and application of novel computational tools for the analysis and interpretation of high-throughput genomic data, primarily sequencing data, often from novel assays. The work is based on techniques that include statistical learning, data integration, and visualization guided by specific biological questions.

    REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must hold a Ph.D (or equivalent) degree in statistics, math, computer science or computational biology as well as detail understanding of molecular biology and genetics. Prior experience in processing and managing high-throughput sequencing data is desired.

    LOCALE

    Weill Cornell Medicine,
    New York, NY, USA

    HOW TO APPLY

Please submit a CV, a brief research statement, bibliography (or preprints), and names of at least three references to Doron Betel (doron[at]physbio-tech.net).
