    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Overview:
    The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute seeks a Senior Scientist - Clinical Genomics Analyst to lead the creation of a new open-access precision cancer medicine knowledge base. This is an essential role for building precision medicine platforms within DFCI, for connecting genomic profiles to clinical trials, and for maintaining the public, open source cBioPortal for Cancer Genomics (http://cbioportal.org).

    Primary Responsibilities:
    • Lead the creation of a new open-access precision cancer medicine knowledge base.
    • Review literature and curate clinically actionable mutations in cancer, with focus on creating highly structured and clinically concise records for genes and genomic variants in multiple cancer types.
    • Review submissions from a larger team of open-source curators and contributors.
    • Curate genomic criteria for clinical trialsat DFCI,as part of our computational platform for algorithmic matching genomics profiles to clinical trials.
    • Lead a team of part-time clinical fellows across DFCI, with the goal of integrating disease center expertise into the knowledge base.
    • Attend all precision medicine tumor boards at DFCI, and integrate published observations into the knowledge base.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Required Skills:
    • PhD in biology, with a strong clinical / translational cancer focus
    • Expertise in cancer genomics, and the clinical application of cancer genomics
    • Excellent communication and writing skills
    • Exceptional attention to detail
    Strong leadership skills to lead a group of open-source contributors and a group of clinical fellows.

    The candidate must also demonstrate outstanding personal initiative and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Ability to meet deadlines and efficiently multitask is a must.

    PREFERENCES

    Highly Desired Skills:
    • Prior experience in curating and interpreting clinical impact of cancer variants
    • Prior experience in building or contributing to a clinical cancer genomics knowledgebase

    TERMS

    Full/Part Time: Full-Time
    Regular/Temporary: Regular
    Schedule: Standard Business Hours, Monday - Friday 8:30 - 5:00
