    Opportunity: Assistant/Associate Professor of Food Safety Epidemiology @ University of Arizona -- Tucson, AZ (US)

    BACKGROUND

    The University of Arizona's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) and The BIO5 Institute are supporting faculty hiring in areas of strategic importance, such as biomedical sciences, computational biology, food safety and translational health. A tenure-eligible faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor is available in Food Safety Epidemiology. This position is 80% research and 20% teaching, and individuals with expertise in the application of advanced computational biology approaches to the understanding of foodborne microorganisms are encouraged to apply.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Successful applicants will develop a research program that enhances the School's strengths in food safety, microbiology, epidemiology molecular biology, nutrition and, bacterial pathogenesis. As a BIO5 Fellow, the candidate is expected to participate in BIO5 interdisciplinary projects with scientists from CALS and from other UA Colleges. The new faculty member will teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate curricula and contribute to mentoring students, including those from underrepresented backgrounds.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Ph.D. in Food Safety, Epidemiology, Microbiology, Food Science, Nutrition, Public Health, or a related discipline. Candidates should have a demonstrated history in applying computational biology approaches to research in this area.

    Education and experience includes post-doctoral research training, a publication record commensurate with experience, demonstration of collaborative research that crosses disciplines, and a record of excellence in teaching or mentoring.
