    Internet Week: LSU cluster called fastest Linux supercomputer on Earth

    ``Louisiana State University has deployed the most powerful Linux-based supercomputer in the world, the computer's builders said this week.

    ``The computer, called SuperMike, comprises a cluster of 1,024 Intel Xeon 1.8-GHz processors and is capable of performing 2.2 trillion calculations per second. Its speed makes it the world's 11th-fastest supercomputer overall, according to builder Atipa Technologies.''
