    Opportunity: BIOINFORMATICS Expert (PROTEOMICS) at Functional Genomics Center--Zurich, Switzerland

    BACKGROUND:
    The Functional Genomics Center Zurich (FGCZ) is an interdisciplinary research and training center of the University of Zurich and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, with state-of-the-art technology platforms in functional genomics, proteomics and bioinformatics. The successful applicant will supplement the core bioinformatics staff of the FGCZ and collaborate with a broad range of external experts of the University and ETH Zurich in the fields of informatics and life sciences. He/She will have access to the latest generation of computing infrastructure of both institutions.

    The position offers a challenging opportunity at a key intersection of rapidly moving fields including a competitive salary and relocation reimbursement.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    To expand our existing bioinformatics team in proteomics. The primary tasks of the successful candidate will be to support research scientist through programming and updating of software, development of user interfaces and bioinformatics systems for data analysis, and establishment of databases.

    REQUIREMENTS:
    The ideal candidate should have a degree in biological, computational, or technical sciences. An ability to work independently is a prerequisite, as is the ability to effectively interact with the research and technical staff of the center and of research groups from University and ETH Zurich in a team-oriented manner.

    General knowledge of proteomics technologies, sound knowledge of Perl, C/C++, Linux, Windows, as well as experience in applied statistics and mathematics are strong assets.

    Advanced knowledge of English is essential, as this is the working language of the center. Knowledge of German is helpful but not essential.

    Full-time employment, starting immediately or upon agreement

    Financing and employment conditions for this position are according to the guidelines of the ETH Zurich. The successful candidate will be employed by the ETH Zurich.
