    Opportunity: Senior COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGIST--Basel (Switzerland)
Submitted by Michael Rebhan; posted on Friday, July 08, 2005

    DESCRIPTION

To strengthen our scientific support, the Friedrich Miescher Institute (part of the Novartis Research Foundation, http://www.fmi.ch) in Basel is looking for a scientist with several years of experience in the area of computational biology.

    REQUIREMENTS

Experience or a PhD on topics such as sequence analysis, 3D modelling or evolutionary analysis, and a strong background in the investigation of structure-function relationships at the protein level are required.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working on interesting scientific challenges, but who also likes teaching and helping others and is willing to work closely with biologists with varying levels of computing expertise.

Depending on experience level, independent research in areas of interest to the institute would be encouraged (including areas related to bioinformatics, such as the modeling of biological phenomena and the development of new prediction tools).
