    BACKGROUND

    SRA is an information technology firm that provides systems integration, consulting, and eBusiness and eGovernment services and solutions. We deliver value to our clients by combining knowledge of their businesses with expertise across the information technology spectrum.
    A new NIH bioinformatics core is ramping up to provide services and support to the intramural scientists within this Institute. This core is moving aggressively to meet the needs of its scientists by employing a multi-pronged strategy to build a comprehensive bioinformatics infrastructure. This infrastructure will target all aspects of the bioinformatics workflow life cycle and include: strategic planning and emerging technologies research, hardware and software infrastructure, communication and public relations, training and education for bioinformatics applications and procedures, and research and expert data analysis services. This core facility provides a wide array of services and engages in diverse initiatives to fulfill its mission of providing Institute scientists with a state of the art computational biology center. You will support their ongoing effort to analyze business practices governing the scientific research, identify inefficiencies, and suggest and implement bio-IT and bioinformatics solutions that enhance the scientific productivity of Institute researchers. Tasks will be performed at NIH offices and facilities in the Bethesda, Maryland area.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    4188BR : Web Content Administrator - will creatively and effectively communicate scientific IT concepts, practices, and available services to this Institute?s scientific community.This highly creative individual will implement the communication strategy outlined by the Core?s managers, and generate all communication materials and documents ? promoting the Core?s capabilities, and educating the research community as to current and future Core resources. The communication specialist will also use creative graphics and web page design skills to develop and populate both the intranet and extranet Core web sites. The latter will involve site layout and art design, communicating web site development requirements to software developers, and managing content curation and publishing.

    REQUIREMENTS

    The candidate will hold an M.S. or Ph.D. in the life sciences, with focus or relevant experience in infectious diseases, and experience working in a basic research laboratory. In addition, the candidate will have demonstrated experience in communicating complex scientific IT concepts through presentations, seminars, newsletters, mailing lists, and published articles. Applicants must be able to deliver strategic communication plans, presentations, seminars, newsletters, and published articles within a given time frame.

    Ability to obtain PPT 1C clearance. US citizenship or permanent residency required.
