    Opportunity: BIOINFORMATICS Analyst--Bethesda MD (US)

    BACKGROUND

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Consultation with NIH intramural scientists regarding bioinformatics analysis. Hands on analysis of high throughput biological datasets. Collaboration with software developers to develop custom bioinformatic software or modify commercial software. Teaching of bioinformatics tools and concepts to postdoctoral fellows and scientists performing leading edge research.

    REQUIREMENTS

    A PhD biologist in molecular biology or related field experienced in bioinformatics analysis of high throughput biological datasets. Successful applicants will have hands-on experience in analyzing all or most of the following biological datatypes: raw microarray data, genomic sequence data, SNP data, proteomics data, pathway data, and genetic study data. Experience of applying appropriate bioinformatic tools to other researchersâ?? datasets and teaching biologists less experienced in the technologies how and when to use these tools is required. Some statistical background is strongly preferred, ideally in R, Matlab, SAS or other related tools. Tool development is a bonus but application of existing tools to the datasets is expected.

    Candidates should be self-motivated and must be able to work independently with little supervision. All candidates must have excellent oral and written communications skills.
