The Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) is a non-profit organization focused on developing earlier diagnostics and smarter treatments.
Translational genomics research employs innovative advances arising from the Human Genome Project and applying them to the development of diagnostics, prognostics and therapies for cancer, neurological disorders, diabetes and other complex diseases.
TGen’s research program combined with scientific and clinical expertise is ready to move genomic discoveries to the clinic for the benefit and care of all….from Bench to Bedside.
RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is primarily responsible for the development and implementation of scientific computer algorithms and application programs for the integration and analysis of disparate genomics data such as gene expressions, CGH, SNPs, proteomics, sequences, etc. The target system for applications includes stand-alone desktop computers, large-scale Linux-based cluster and SMP systems
The tasks for the position will include:
1. To develop scientific programming libraries and application in C/C++ for genomic data analysis
2. To write and maintain documentations for the developed libraries and tools
3. To help deploy the developed tools to parallel computing systems (512 dual-Xeon Linux clusters).
4. To assist the implementation of web-based services for the developed analytical tools.
5. Other specific duties will be determined based on the qualifications and experience of the selected applicant.
REQUIREMENTS
1. MS degree or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Bioinformatics of related field.
2. 2+ years of scientific programming experience using C and C++.
3. Knowledge in pattern recognition and statistical analysis.
4. Good documentation skill.
5. Good communications skill with both biologists and computer scientists
In addition, the following skill set is desirable
6. Experience in parallel programming using MPI or OpenMP
7. Experience in bioinformatics tools and data types.
8. Experience with Java, Matlab or R
