SRA is seeking a junior to mid-level full time software engineer who possesses a background in Java and Perl to work in Rockville, MD for an immediately open position.

SRA develops and maintains the Enteropathogen Resource Integration Center (ERIC), one of eight NIH/NIAID Bioinformatics Resource Centers (BRC) for Biodefense and Emerging/Re-emerging Infectious Diseases. ERIC consists of web-based databases that collect, store and analyze genomic and related data for NIAID category A-C microorganisms, including bioterrorism agents.

Responsibilities will include assisting with component design, development, and testing under the guidance of the technical lead. Performs complex analysis, design, development, testing, and debugging of computer software. Performs in accordance with established project standards and processes. Upper levels may break down software requirements and create highly complex systems.

B.S. in computer science, information technology, or bioinformatics; applicants with degree in biology and significant practical programming experience may be considered. Experience with XML, CSS, HTML, JDBC, JSPs and servlets is desired. Developers with a background in or significant exposure to molecular biology are preferred.
