    Opportunity: Programmer in COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGY @ Clinical Research Institute of Montreal (IRCM)--Montreal, Canada

    BACKGROUND

    The successful applicant will be part of a brand new research unit in computational biology at the Clinical Research Institute of Montreal to be lead by Raphael Gottardo. Our lab currently consists of the PI (Raphael Gottardo), one postdoc, 5 graduate students, plus several rotation students. Our main focus is the development of methods and software for the analysis of high throughput genomics data.     RESPONSIBILITIES

    The successful applicant will develop new software and conduct data analysis of high throughput genomic data and work closely with the PI and a talented group of postdocs and PhD students. Specific areas of research include: ChIP-chip, ChIP-Seq, high throughput sequencing, flow cytometry, regulatory networks, etc. The position will offer the opportunity to work with statisticians, biologists and computer scientists. The position is available as of Sept 1 2008.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Bachelor's degree in computer science OR at least two years of equivalent experience required; a strong quantitative background and experience in scientific computing is required; extensive background in a range of languages and systems such as C/C++, R, Perl/Python, Java, MySQL, HTML, PhP required; UNIX/Linux experience required; UNIX system administration skills preferred; ability to interact well with coworkers and excellent organizational skills required.
