Opportunity: Sr. Scientist/Scientist, BIOINFORMATICS @ Nodality, Inc.--South San Francisco, CA (US)

Nodality is a venture capital-funded biotechnology company headquartered in South San Francisco, CA, dedicated to using advanced biological characterization technology to improve the treatment of patients with cancer. The company's initial primary areas of focus include hematological malignancies and autoimmune disorders.

Nodality has a strong internal discovery research capability supported by numerous academic interactions, and has recently made strong hires to strengthen clinical development, intellectual property management, regulated product development, business development and marketing.

- Work closely on a team with representation from research biology, clinical instrumentation/automation, biostatistics, clinical research and development, and other informaticians

- Accurately estimate timelines and resources needed to meet project team objectives

- Contribute to discovery research study designs, research protocols, and report preparation

- Participate in developing and testing novel QA/QC metrics for instrumentation and reagent development and qualification

- Explore, implement, and evaluate novel data analysis methods and metrics for SCNP data

- Identify and implement data analysis work flows

- Work closely with scientists from experimental design through data analysis and presentation

- Work exclusively in multi-disciplinary teams

We are seeking a computational scientist with a minimum of 2 years of experience in bioinformatics research, preferably in diagnostic tests, medical devices, therapeutics, or related fields.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience with:

- Applying computational methods and data analytics to biologically relevant problems in close collaboration with experimentalists

- Delivering reliably high-quality work product on aggressive timelines

- Very strong interpersonal skills and a track record of success in team-oriented environments

- High-level problem solving skills

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- A Ph.D. with strong background in computational biology, biostatistics, bioinformatics, computer science or related field

- At least 2 years post-doctoral experience in an industrial setting

- Demonstrated willingness to be hands-on and pro-active

- Demonstrated ability to multi-task while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail

- Practical software engineering and programming experience in Windows and Linux environments with a strong preference for Python proficiency

- Experience with popular statistical packages such as R, SAS, and JMP

- Comfortable in a dynamic, rapidly changing, and highly competitive industrial environment

- Able to work effectively with internal and external colleagues and collaborators, both academic and industrial

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools

- Knowledge of multicolor flow cytometry a definite plus

- Knowledge of programming languages C# and/or C++ is a plus

This position is based in Nodality's South San Francisco, California site. Periodic travel to our Nashville, Tennessee location is expected.
