    Opportunity: Microarray Shared Resource Manager @ Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory--Cold Spring Harbor, NY (US)

    BACKGROUND

    Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is a world-renowned research and educational institution with programs in cancer, neuroscience, plant biology, genomics and quantitative biology.     RESPONSIBILITIES

    Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking outstanding candidates with a strong bioinformatics background to fill a position as manager of the Microarray Shared Resource. This core facility provides laboratory scientists with access to microarray platform technologies such as expression arrays, CGH arrays, copy number arrays, exon arrays, and several other molecular techniques. The Microarray Shared Resource Manager will oversee day-to-day operations of the Microarray Shared Resource as well as participate in experimental design and analysis.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Candidates should have a Ph.D. in molecular biology, bioinformatics or related field with at least two years post-doctoral experience.
    • Candidates should be familiar with both experimental and computational aspects of microarray analysis.
    • A computational background with experience in microarray analysis is preferred, as well as familiarity with widely used biology databases and bioinformatics methods for various applications of microarray technology (exon arrays, tiling arrays, SNP arrays, etc).
    • Applicants should have at least five years experience with Affymetrix microarrays; experience with additional array platforms is desirable but not essential.
    • Demonstrable computational and programming skills are required as well as excellent supervisory and management skills and good communication and writing skills.
