BACKGROUND

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and design new research methodologies for assessing genetic associations with complex phenotypes arising from clinical follow-up studies.
• Develop and design statistical methodologies for assessing sequence-based associations with complex phenotypes.
• Identify, design, and implement novel computational algorithms for newly developed methodologies.
• Analyze experimental data, make decisions about follow up experiments, troubleshoot technical problems, and develop strategies for problem resolution.
• Collaborate with clinical investigators and molecular biologists in applications of the new methods.
• Develop protocols and perform statistical and computer assisted data analyses.
• Prepare written progress reports for oral presentations of findings at laboratory meetings, conferences, and for publication.
• Assist with the contribution to and compilation of data for publication and grant proposals.
• Maintain research data, and provide information per requests
• Perform other duties as required

REQUIREMENTS

• A Ph.D. degree with significant experience or postdoctoral training in statistics / statistical genetics / computational biology / biostatistics / applied mathematics / computational mathematics / computational physics or equivalent.

PREFERENCES

• Two or more years of experience in a related area is preferred, as are the following qualifications:
• - Working experience in the fields of statistical applications to genetics and computational statistics
• - Working experiences with commonly used statistical packages (SAS, SPSS, S+, R) and also with programming languages (C/C++, Java, Matlab).
• - Working experiences with handling and processing high dimensional data
• - Ability to organize work and think independently and collaboratively
• - Ability to develop creative approaches to develop new methods and new design
• - Ability to work well independently and collaboratively in a team working environment
