RESPONSIBILITIES
The Scientist I/II within Manufacturing Sciences will lead characterization and validation activities for upstream biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes. The position also offers the opportunity to interface with the downstream group to solve challenging technical problems that require in-depth upstream and downstream bioprocessing knowledge. The candidate is expected to introduce or develop innovative manufacturing technologies, process modeling techniques, multivariate statistical analysis and DOE tools for late-stage and commercial biologics manufacturing processes. The candidate will also assist in the generation of regulatory submissions and provide technical support in generating regulatory responses.
Additional responsibilities include technical support for manufacturing investigations and providing technical expertise in process scale-up and technology transfer to cGMP clinical and commercial manufacturing. Design and execution of lab-scale studies, generating appropriate documentation, reporting and communication of technical results, adherence to laboratory safety standards and interfacing with teams in the process sciences, analytical, pilot plant, manufacturing and quality areas are an integral part of the workscope. The successful candidate will work effectively in cross-functional project teams and also work independently to accomplish project goals.
REQUIREMENTS
- The candidate must have a Ph.D in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or other related field or or M.S. with relevant industry experience.
- Must have in-depth knowledge of bioprocessing.
- Hands-on experience with bioseparation or aseptic cell culture techniques is a must.
- The candidate must have demonstrated problem solving, interpersonal, oral communication and written communication skills.
PREFERENCES
- Familiar with process modeling, multivariate statistical analysis or design of experiments is highly desirable.
