Submitted by Marjorie Ryan; posted on Friday, May 28, 2010
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The laboratory of Dr. Scott Lowe at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is recruiting a Scientific Analyst to join our research team to aid in the analysis of cutting-edge biological research that focuses on understanding and treating cancer. The successful candidate will collaborate with bench scientists and work independently to analyze data derived from several types of projects including: SNV discovery from deep sequencing data, DNA copy number and RNA expression analyses on patient tumor samples, as well as data derived from conducting genetic screens in mouse models of cancer.
The successful candidate will be able to communicate with researchers and understand the design and implementation of experimental procedures and then work independently on a variety of bioinformatics analysis projects. This effort requires utilizing and developing analysis tools for data mining, integrating diverse data sets and new algorithm development to implement statistical tests and visualization tools. Ideally, the candidate will aid in the creation of a database that integrates all the genomics data.
