BACKGROUND
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is a world-renowned research and educational institution with innovative research programs in cancer, neuroscience, plant biology and quantitative biology. RESPONSIBILITIES
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking a motivated computational developer with experience in statistical analysis, programming and molecular biology to join the Bioinformatics Shared Resource. The successful candidate will provide genome analysis support for projects in the CSHL Cancer Center, such as analysis of high throughput data and development of computational methods and user interfaces. He/she will work closely with CSHL research scientists and other Bioinformatics Shared Resource staff in collaborative projects.
REQUIREMENTS
- Candidates should have a Masters degree in bioinformatics, statistics/biostatistics computer science or a related field with a strong interest in biomedical research.
- Candidates should have proven skills in computational data analysis, experience with Unix/Linux operating systems and familiarity with one or more of the following languages: C/C++, Java, PERL, R, Matlab.
PREFERENCES
- Experience with microarray data analysis, sequence analysis, computational genomics, development of relational databases and user interfaces are preferred.
- Understanding of biology and success in biomedical or bioinformatics projects is a plus.
