    RESPONSIBILITIES

    ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, MEDICAL STRATEGY APIXABAN The Associate Director (AD) will report to the Cardiovascular Lead, Medical Strategy and Development. The AD plays a key role in developing and implementing the US Medical Affairs strategy for Apixaban. The AD will establish and maintain interactions with external medical and scientific experts to assess unmet medical needs in order to develop an appropriate medical strategy. The AD Interacts and maintains relationships with the life cycle management team, managed care organizations, physician leaders, medical matrix, external and internal customers to implement the launch plan and the strategy and for the life cycle management of Apixaban. The AD will represent Medical Strategy in a cross-functional Medical Matrix team and will collaborate with functional areas outside of medical including marketing, sales, legal, regulatory, and all areas within research and development.

    This position supports the development and execution of the Apixaban medical plan to ensure that strategies, objectives and tactics are aligned across the medical matrix and JV partners. The AD will coordinate multiple medical activities including scientific advisory boards, congress support, medical training of BMS employees, training of external speakers, competitive intelligence, publications, post marketing trials, and medical information. The AD will work with the Cardiovascular Lead to track team goals, strategies, activities, and budget on a routine basis.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Highly organized and motivated individual with the ability to coordinate multiple projects and initiatives
    • Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams including regulatory, legal, clinical operations, marketing and researchers in the area of cardiovascular disease
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills both verbal and written
    • The successful candidate must have an MD, PharmD, or PhD preferably with experience in CV/Metabolics, either in academics, research oriented private practice or industry experience
    • He or she would have an understanding of all phases of pharmaceutical drug development including; clinical development, regulatory and understanding of life cycle management of pharmaceutical products, and knowledge of opinion leaders in the field.
    • Strong leadership, team player and team builder skills required.

    PREFERENCES

    • Clinical research experience in the area of cardiovascular medicine is desirable.
    • Desirable qualities include experience in working as a project member of a multi-functional team, in an alliance, knowledge of the US medical planning process, SOPS and implementation.
