    St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, located in Memphis, Tennessee, is a premier center for research and treatment of potentially fatal childhood diseases, including cancer and certain blood, genetic, and immunodeficiency disorders. The hospital's mission is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment.     Currently, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has an opening for a Bioinformatics Research Scientist (Job Number 20492).

    The Bioinformatics Research Scientistin the Computational Biology Department takes a lead role in data management, data integrity evaluation, statistical analysis, experimental design, and database development. Responsible for databases development and provides help for software and computational resources used in bioinformatics analysis to researchers in the disease, biotechnology, and statistical fields. Trains investigators and new users to use bioinformatics databases. May act as data manager of designated research projects. Provides data management, project oversight, scientific advice, programming support, or other necessary input to achieve established objectives. Ensures that efficient and prompt help is provided to the SJCRH investigators.

    Requirements: Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, or related field plus three (3) years of postdoctoral and/or job experience in Computational Biology or Bioinformatics research is required. Experience with programming languages such as Perl, C, C++, SQL or Java required.

    Preferred skills: Database development for managing multi-dimensional genomics data including SNP, genotype, gene expression, copy number, methylation and sequence data. Experience with large-scale genomic data management and data integrity check is highly preferably. Experience for developing application programs for data upload and presentation of genomic data is highly desirable.
