    Opportunity: BIOINFORMATICS Scientist @ Nodality--South San Francisco, CA (US)

    BACKGROUND

    Nodality is seeking a bioinformatics scientist to join our highly collaborative team, recently selected as the "Most Promising Company" at the 2011 Personalized World Medicine Conference.

    South San Francisco-based Nodality is a personalized medicine company utilizing proprietary technology, Single Cell Network Profiling (SCNP), to characterize signaling pathways in cancer and autoimmune diseases. The SCNP platform promises to link individual patients with appropriate therapies and increase the efficiency R&D of drugs and diagnostics.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Work closely on a team with research biologists, clinical instrumentation/automation specialists, biostatisticians, clinical research and development scientists, and other informatics scientists
    • Work closely with scientists from the concept and design of experiments, through data capture, analysis, interpretation and presentation
    • Work exclusively in multidisciplinary, collaborative teams
    • Contribute to design of discovery research studies, research protocols, and report preparation
    • Participate in developing and testing novel QA/QC metrics for instrumentation and reagent development and qualification
    • Explore, implement, and evaluate novel quantitative metrics and data analysis methods for interpretation of biological experiments

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Very strong interpersonal skills and a track record of success in team-oriented environments
    • High-level problem solving skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • A PhD with strong background in computational biology, biostatistics, bioinformatics, computer science or related field
    • Post-doctoral experience in an industrial setting a plus
    • Demonstrated willingness to be hands-on and pro-active
    • Demonstrated ability to multi-task while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
    • Experience with popular statistical packages such as R, SAS, and JMP
    • Programming experience in Windows and Linux environments with a strong preference for Python proficiency
    • Comfortable in a dynamic, rapidly changing, and highly competitive industrial environment
    • Able to work effectively with internal and external colleagues and collaborators, both academic and industrial
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
    • Knowledge of multicolor flow cytometry a definite plus
    • Knowledge of programming languages C# and/or C++ is a plus
    The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience with:
    • Applying computational methods and data analytics to biologically relevant problems in close collaboration with experimentalists
