The institute's research staff includes over 100 Ph.Ds.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for a talented and highly motivated programmer to join the Peters lab (www.liai.org/page[...]eters) in San Diego, California. Candidates will work within a team of experimental and computational scientists to develop, deploy, and maintain production web applications and databases used to improve the scientific understanding of the human immune system and facilitate the development of new diagnostics, vaccines and immunotherapeutics. Candidates will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and working experience in bioinformatics and immunology while working at one of the world's top five immunological research institutes.

    REQUIREMENTS

Interested candidates should have at least a Bachelor degree in the sciences with strong computer programming and information technology experience. Other requirements include demonstrated experience with Java web development, relational databases, XML, Linux/Unix, and major bioinformatics resources (e.g. GenBank, Swiss-Prot, PDB, BLAST, and NCBI Entrez).

    PREFERENCES

Experience with .Net, Perl, Python, Django, ASP, Struts, Eclipse IDE, and Apache Tomcat is desirable, and background knowledge of immunology, biochemistry, and bioinformatics is a strong plus.
