    BACKGROUND

    Social & Scientific Systems, Inc. (SSS) is a fast-growing, employee-owned company dedicated to improving public health around the world. This position is based in our Silver Spring, MD office.     RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Business/Requirements Analyst will be responsible for assisting Project Managers and Technical Leads on web and/or software application development projects for both existing and new projects. This Analyst collaborates with Center Directors, Project Managers, Developers, and Quality Assurance to ensure business requirements and technical specifications are managed throughout the project lifecycle.

    This position will be responsible for:
    • Assist with technical project managers and developers with developing and maintaining all levels of project requirements and technical specifications.
    • Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
    • Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements working sessions, site visits, business process descriptions, user stories or use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis.
    • Configuration Management and Change Control for all business requirements and technical specifications.
    • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
    • Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver project artifacts as needed: Utilize your experience in using enterprise-wide requirements definition and management systems and methodologies required.
    • Serves as the conduit between the customer community (internal and external customers) and the software/web development team through which requirements flow.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
    • 3-5 years of related experience
    • Experience with various software development lifecycle methodologies; must understand full lifecycle of project management
    • Experience with iterative development approach a.k.a. Agile development
    • Experience with formal requirements development and management
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, managers, and subject matter experts
    • Effectively work in a matrix organization at times
    • Working on and maintaining projects in compliance with CMMI Maturity Level 2 and above
    • Experience with Agile development management systems and/or project management tracking systems preferred

    PREFERENCES

    The ideal candidate must have solid knowledge of and experience with software development lifecycles and various development methodologies. Agile or iterative development experience is required. CMMI experience, Maturity Level 2 or above, is preferred.
