BACKGROUND

Berg Biosystems is a rapidly growing biotechnology company in the Boston area. We are currently looking to fill the following position at our Natick, MA facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The IT Systems Administration position requires a "go-to" personality, excellent problem solving skills and ability to get tasks completed independently. The position will be responsible for maintenance and support of the IT infrastructure in the Berg facility including management of the company network and company phone system, installation of new hardware and software, installation and support of security systems, desktop support and troubleshooting. In addition, the person will be assisting the laboratory manager in troubleshooting laboratory computers and software. The position is the first line technical support for employees and will require interaction with vendors and technical support teams.

REQUIREMENTS

BS/BA degree in Computer Science or a related field. Minimum 3 years of IT support experience.

Minimum Required Skills:

Experience in setting up and extending LANs at the software and hardware level
Solid understanding of LAN security and experience in setting up security procedures and protocols
Experience with LIMS or other enterprise management software
Experience with installation of Ethernet phone systems
Ability to write code in shell, Perl, HTML, VB or other high-level programming language
Experience in trouble-shooting web servers and web sites
Experience in administration of Linux & Windows systems and servers

PREFERENCES

Preferred Skills and Requirements:

Experience in IT support in a biotech laboratory setting
Ability to install and administer databases
Ability to design and implement simple workflow automation
Experience in setting up web servers and coding in HTML
