Opportunity: Programmer Analyst @ Columbia University -- New York, NY (US)

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Center for Infection and Immunity at the Mailman School of Public Health has an immediate opening for a Programmer/Analyst . The successful applicant will provide bioinformatics support for ongoing research (multiple projects) in virus pathogen detection and discovery in a large and dynamic laboratory.
REQUIREMENTS
The candidate must have a basic knowledge of genetics and molecular biology (at least 2 university level courses in biology/molecular biology) as well as practical knowledge of major bioinformatics tools and resources: NCBI, GenBank, BLAST, PDB, etc. The position requires the ability to work in Unix environments and at least one year of academic or industrial experience working with scripting languages, such as C Shell, Perl, or Python. Desired qualifications include: applied mathematics/statistics/biostatistics background and experience in C++ (object oriented) programming. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus three years of related experience.
