    BACKGROUND

    Golden Helix is a leader in genetic research software tools and services. We're known for helping researchers overcome the obstacles that keep them from making novel discoveries and significant publications. Our business is growing, creating the need to expand our team.

    We are looking for a biostatistician to work as part of our Services team to employ leading software tools, state-of-the-art methods, statistical expertise, and custom development capabilities to uncover hidden relationships in complex data.     RESPONSIBILITIES

    As a member of our Services team, you will perform statistical analysis and data management functions for customers, including SNP and CNV GWAS, DNA-seq and RNA-seq projects, design studies, and assist with implementation and evaluation of novel methods. You will interact directly with customers to interpret, document and present results, and will have the opportunity to serve as a company representative at industry events and conferences.

    Keeping abreast of the latest development in statistical genetics and emerging genomic fields, including sequencing applications and statistical learning theory, you will have the opportunity to help generate content for white papers, posters, presentations and other internal uses. You will also occasionally provide scientific support and training for customers, employees and prospects and provide feedback on Golden Helix products to the Product Development team.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Masters Degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, or related field. A Bachelors Degree with 3+ years experience analyzing GWAS or NGS data will be accepted in lieu of Masters Degree
    • Background in biology, genetic epidemiology, statistical genetics, or human genetics with experience analyzing GWAS or NGS data strongly preferred. Proficiency in MS Excel, knowledge of the Linus/Unix command line environment, experience using R/S+ or other general statistics applications and using scripting language such as Python, PERL or AWK
    • Experience utilizing regression, linear models and non-parametric statistics in research settings
    • Must possess strong oral and written communication and presentation skills (must read, write and speak fluent English).
    • Occasional overnight travel
    • Must love nerds. Or better yet, be one!
