Opportunity: BIOINFORMATICS/Data Scientist @ Nodality -- South San Francisco, CA (US)
Submitted by David Spellmeyer; posted on Tuesday, November 20, 2012

    BACKGROUND

Nodality is looking for an individual who is motivated to apply his/her bioinformatics, computational biology, data analysis, and programming skills to the high-impact area of personalized medicine. You will be part of a team that is working to make a difference in the lives of patients by advancing research and clinical biology to individualize medicine.

Nodality offers many exciting opportunities for career advancement. We were selected as the "Most Promising Company" at the 2011 Personalized Medicine World Conference. This honor reflects our cutting-edge activities in developing tests to aid physicians in selecting treatment for their cancer patients and in our work with biopharmaceutical partners in developing new therapies in cancer and autoimmunity.

Our proprietary Single Cell Network Profiling (SCNP) technology quantifies intracellular protein function of individual cells in a high content and high throughput format. We have developed robust and reproducible assays that quantify intracellular network responses for systems biology research. We apply this technology to drug characterization and therapeutic profiling with the aim of developing highly predictive algorithms for patient stratification and therapeutic treatment selection. This approach interrogates cell signaling networks and pathways downstream of SNPs, gene and protein expression, providing an integrated, functionally relevant view of disease biology.

In this role, you will make significant contributions to Nodality's research and development team as we design and analyze experiments with high information content. You will have the opportunity to work with and learn from world-class experts in a wide range of disciplines including, biology, computational sciences and translational medicine. You will be intellectually challenged and will have an opportunity to grow your career in a variety of directions in an organization with a strong track record for publications and presentations to the oncology and immunology communities.

    • Use your programming skills to efficiently manage experimental data and data workflows
    • Perform a variety of data analysis tasks ranging from exploring biology to developing predictive models by employing appropriate statistical and machine learning techniques and communicate those results to team members
    • Contribute to developing of protocols and preparing reports
    • Explore, implement, and evaluate novel quantitative metrics and data analysis methods for interpreting biological experiments and improving processes
    • Present proposals and findings to team members, and management

    REQUIREMENTS
