    Opportunity: Scientific Data Management Specialist, Data Wrangler @ Computercraft--Bethesda, MD (US)

    BACKGROUND

    Computercraft currently has multiple positions open for Scientific Data Management Specialists. The successful candidates will process, solicit, and provide assistance with large scale data submissions of scientific data from a variety of sources. Candidates with a background in biology, genetics, population genetics, genomics, or medical/disease genetics including linkage/genome wide association studies who enjoy using computers to work with data hands on are encouraged to apply. These are full time positions located on the NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland. The individual will work together with experts from NIH's National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) in the National Library of Medicine (NLM).

    REQUIREMENTS

    Required Skills for all positions:
    • Background in genetics, biology, genomics or biomedicine
    • Formal Education (minimum: Masters of Science, Ph.D. preferred)
    • Scripting experience in PERL or related scripting languages
    • Programming experience with LINUX/UNIX
    • Experience with databases
    • Ability to use Microsoft Excel and related applications
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • The candidate has experience moving large amounts of scientific data reliably and efficiently
