Start using I, Librarian
In order to start I, Librarian, open your web browser and go to the address for the library.
This can be http://localhost, http://localhost/librarian, an address with your static IP http://111.1.1.1,
or your domain name http://yourdomain.net/librarian. The Windows installer installs I, Librarian with the default
address http://localhost/librarian.
I, Librarian is very flexible. You can use it as a groupware or your personal software. In both cases, however,
you need to create an account first. In order to sign up, click on the "Create Account" link in the top window
frame (see Figure below). Enter a user name and a password of your choice. After that, click the "Sign Up" button.
Now you are signed in, an can start using I, Librarian. I would suggest that you first check whether I, Librarian
is correctly installed. Go to Tools and Installation Details. The right window frame should look like this:
If you see green OKs, it means the required feature is met. Red exclamation marks mean that the particular feature
is not correctly installed. Next, you should head to Settings and set some default features of I, Librarian. Your
Internet connection settings are important if you plan to search external databases like PubMed, NASA ADS and others.
If you access the Internet through Proxy, enter its address, port number, and if required user name and password
for authentication. These settings are identical to those in your internet browser. If your browser uses pac file
for automatic proxy configuration, ask your Internet provider for the information about your proxy HTTP server.
You are now set and can start populating your PDF collection.
