[BiO BB] need suggestions on how to start on Bioinformatics with data mining background

You might search PubMed for "data mining" key word.
You will get thousands of papers from there.
For specific journals, I would recommend you to start from the following
journals: "Nucleic Acid Research" (NAR), "Bioinformatics", "BMC
Bioinformatics", "Genome Biology".
