Hi, Angela.

Yes, we had similar problems running RStudio on a MATE remote desktop.

Tim discovered that this was caused by the Qt binaries bundled in the
RStudio .deb. A similar fix might work for you:

> cd /usr/lib/rstudio/bin
> mkdir notused
> mv -i libQ* notused/
> mv -i qt.conf notused/
