All of a sudden I cannot start Rstudio because of a conflict with X11: rstudio The X11 connection broke: Maximum allowed requested length exceeded (code 4) XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server ":50.0" after 382 requests (382 known processed) with 0 events remaining. R itself ( R version 3.4.3 (2017-11-30) -- "Kite-Eating Tree") works fine, x11() in R gives a device active window, plotting works. Rstudio (desktop version) has been reinstalled. Any hints would be appreciated. Thanks and best wishes Csaba -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Sorry to hear you're having problems running "Rstudio" under Bio-Linux. > rstudio > > The X11 connection broke: Maximum allowed requested length exceeded (code 4) > > XIO:? fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server > ":50.0" > > ????? after 382 requests (382 known processed) with 0 events remaining. Are you running it locally, on your own computer, or over a network to another computer using X11 network 'transparency to display on your's? If you are running "Rstudio" over a network connection, you should use "x2go" instead of X11 network transparentcy because "x2go" compresses and caches the X11 protocol very efficiently. You might not have the necessary bandwidth available without using "x2go". If, on the other hand, you are running "Rstudio" locally on your own computer, then it might be possible there is a problem with the graphics driver that you have installed: Try removing any proprietary graphics drivers and see if you get the same problem. > R itself ( R version 3.4.3 (2017-11-30) -- "Kite-Eating Tree") works > fine, x11() in R gives a device active window, plotting works. > > Rstudio (desktop version) has been reinstalled. > > Any hints would be appreciated. Make sure you install the Rstudio version for Ubuntu 12.04, not 16.04: > https://download1.rstudio.org/rstudio-1.1.423-amd64.deb I'm running this version under Bio-Linux 8 without any problems. > Thanks and best wishes OK, post a message here to let us know if you resolve the problem.
